28 May Singapore: Jacob Collier Just Turned the Star Theatre Into a massive Choir

An absolute gem of a human and a must-see live performer. The sheer genius on display was enough to enthrall the entire audience.

I’m still processing what happened at Jacob Collier's 2025 Singapore show last night. To call it a "concert" is a massive understatement—it was more like witnessing a musical universe being created in real time. Collier, a supernova of energy in his signature crocs, moved effortlessly from piano to bass to a custom vocal harmoniser, layering sounds with impossible richness.

The true magic, however, began when he made us his instrument. He didn't just ask for a singalong; he conducted us. He pointed to one section, assigning a root note. To another, a shimmering fifth. In moments, the entire Star Theatre transformed into a living, breathing choir, holding a complex chord that felt like a glorious eternity. It was pure, unadulterated joy. We weren't just an audience; we were the band. My voice is gone today, but it was a small price to pay for being part of that beautiful, harmonious chaos.
